What is the importance of a comfortable dental office?

While our top priority is always your dental health, one of our main goals is your comfort leading up to, during, and after your visit. While some of our patients do have dental anxiety, we understand that no one wants to be at a dental office. So, we should make your visit as easy and comfortable as possible. Being comfortable leads to better outcomes for the patient experience and a better understanding of treatment. This comes through another goal of patient education. We strive for all our patients to understand the reasons and objectives of any recommended dental procedures. Our patients can focus on their dental needs when they are in a calm and relaxing environment. This allows patients to have a clear head, make a sound judgment about their dental needs, and ask questions to clarify their understanding.

Simply put, a more comfortable dental office allows our doctors and staff to serve our patients better, as the patients are less burdened by things like dental anxiety, being overwhelmed, or dental insurance.

What about before my dental appointment?

Having a comfortable dental visit starts before your appointment, at the start when you schedule an appointment. This is why we offer both online booking and traditional phone calls to schedule. For patients with dental anxiety, it can take significant consideration and courage to make the first step to schedule an appointment. Offering our online system, which links directly to our active schedule, allows patients to find a spot on a good day or time that works for them. Additionally, we strive to ask just the right amount of questions. Not too many to make an appointment booking difficult for you, but just enough to prepare for your appointment and allow the patient to have some control over their appointment. For example, we offer a pre-appointment choice of having their room set up with dimmer lights, closed doors, and an eye mask; or to watch TV and use headphones during their visit. Patients can also express their primary fear or issue simply so we can best prepare for their visit.

Our staff is dedicated to making your dental experience as comfortable as possible. We understand that dental insurance can be confusing and stressful for patients, so we strive to minimize these difficulties. Our patient coordinator staff are the best trained in the area, equipped with an array of tools both online and over the phone to quickly understand your dental plan if we are able to utilize it for you and provide estimates on dental treatment pricing for you. This way, the dental insurance portion is handled before your appointment, with clear communication to the patient about their copays. Making the financial portion of your visit as clear and predictable as possible leads to a more comfortable dental experience.

What about after my dental appointment?

At The Ivory Dental, we offer our new patients a dental amenity kit after their first comprehensive dental exam with us! We recognize that each dental visit can give patients a fresh perspective on their dental health, and we put together the amenity kit to promote a continued focus on their daily dental routine.

Although our amenity kit does sometimes change based on product availability and even customization for Dr. Lina Yu's recommendations to a specific patient, our kit currently consists of the following:

  • Our custom-made toothbrush has a bamboo handle and soft nylon bristles (better for the environment)

  • A full-sized tube of currently recommended toothpaste (changes based on what is our current favorite or unique recommendations for your dental health)

  • Our custom-made organic lip balm (with extra Vitamin E)

  • A full-sized roll of Glide floss (Dr. Yu’s personal favorite)

  • A pack of Trident gum (ADA accepted)
