What comfort amenities can we provide for an anxious dental patient in Winter Park?

Customize Your Dental Experience

Did you know you can customize your dental experience at The Ivory Dental? It all starts from booking your appointment to sitting in the dental chair.

We prepare your room and offer a range of amenities to make your dental visit more comfortable! Check out what we offer and relax at your next appointment!

What comfort options are provided in the treatment room?

Lighting and privacy - Our treatment rooms are private for each patient and one companion (usually a partner or guardian if applicable).

For standard appointments, we do have the doors left open and our standard soft lighting on so we can serve you as quickly as possible. However, upon request, we can dim the lighting almost entirely and close the doors for a quieter, more private treatment.

Sound and ambiance – With open doors in the treatment room, you will hear the office music (we typically play relaxing café style instrumental music). However, we also have several options for audio, ranging from soft foam earplugs for quiet to over-the-ear headphones synced to our overhead entertainment system. This means you can listen to your TV program of choice like Netflix or traditional channels, or relaxing music on Spotify.

Weighted eyemask – One of our more popular options is a weighted and lavender-scented eyemask during your treatment. The eyemask is warmed up just for you, so in addition to blocking out light, it provides a calm and soothing effect with warmth and a little weight resting on your eyes. These weighted eyemasks are handmade for us by a patient and are great even for everyday use! We also offer standard eyemasks if you are looking just to block out the light.

Weighted blanket – A bit of soft compression can help calm nerves for some of our patients, and a weighted blanket can help during the treatment. For patients looking to use a weighted blanket, we offer a soft, thin blanket and the weighted blanket on top of that layer. We wash and sterilize after each use by a patient, so there may be some appointments where this option may not be available. Regular blankets are available in every room for patients looking to cover up during your procedures.

Stress balls and fidget toys – While simple, these can effectively calm the nerves and occupy the mind. We offer a small selection of stress balls and some novelty “squishy” toys for anyone who wants to keep their hands occupied while in the treatment rooms.

Neck pillow – We can provide a covered neck pillow for some patients with neck or spine discomfort during your treatment. In addition, some patients prefer the “hugging” comfort of a neck pillow.

Hot towel – all our standard appointments come with a lavender-scented hot towel when the procedure is finished. This helps refresh the patient as they leave and provides a soothing conclusion to your dental visit!

We are all about patient comfort – so if there’s anything else we can do to make your visit more comfortable, please let us know. If you have suggestions for additional amenities and comforts, please voice them. In that case, our office strives to be as accommodating as possible while maintaining the clinical standards we must adhere to.
