How to Get Started with Invisalign in Winter Park
Invisalign in Winter Park
If you are looking for straighter teeth from a Winter Park dentist, you might want to consider Invisalign as a convenient and less costly alternative to traditional “wire and bracket” braces. At The Ivory Dental, we exclusively utilize Invisalign as our trusted clinical and cosmetic teeth straightening system. When our dentist, Dr. Lina Yu, puts together a teeth straightening plan for a patient, it’s done with safe, predictable movements in mind. As a result, her treatment will always lean towards a patient's long-term satisfaction (clinically and for cosmetic dentistry). For this reason, the Invisalign system is an excellent match for us as an office because it lets Dr. Yu treat our patients with the precision and convenience we expect.
How do I get started on an Invisalign treatment?
We offer complimentary Invisalign consultations with any appointment. These begin with a discussion of your overall cosmetic or clinical concerns and also include a set of photos and a 3D scan of your teeth so Dr. Yu can build a teeth straightening plan for you.
One additional consideration we include is your overall dental health. If you haven’t been to a dentist recently, we must confirm that you don’t need active dental procedures such as fillings or crowns. We want to ensure we’re improving your mouth’s overall health, not just how it looks!
Dr. Yu designs a custom treatment for each patient, which includes a simulation of the movements and how long (total weeks) the active treatment would take. Once this complimentary treatment plan has been finished for you, we invite you to review it and can provide accurate pricing for the treatment itself.
Our office strives to provide competitive and reasonable pricing for teeth straightening. We also avoid hidden fees or other charges during checkup visits. So, our pricing will include all expected visits and treatments, including retainers to be kept and used after the treatment.
Does Invisalign hurt?
Anytime teeth are being straightened and shifted, there will be some discomfort involved. However, Invisalign is the most comfortable way to shift teeth; nearly all our patients report no significant pain after the first two weeks of treatment. Most patients feel soreness for only the first 3-5 days during treatment as the teeth are getting used to the movement. The patient notes that it’s like “stretching before exercising.” With Invisalign, your teeth are moving only slightly from each Invisalign aligner. And because you typically change aligners every 1-2 weeks, this slight, incremental movement doesn’t feel as uncomfortable as traditional “wires and brackets,” which get tightened between repeat visits to the orthodontist.
Should I get Invisalign from an orthodontist?
You certainly can get Invisalign from a Winter Park orthodontist! However, many patients prefer coming to our office for their Invisalign treatment because it is more convenient and affordable to have a single office care for your general dentistry needs and Invisalign teeth straightening.
Additionally, we cannot treat all teeth straightening cases and often refer cases for advanced Invisalign or those needing traditional braces to local orthodontists. Whenever we believe the patient should be treated by an orthodontist, we will refer and recommend that to the patient. We believe in the value of offering Invisalign treatment to patients within the same office as their general dental work. This proves to be convenient and often more cost-effective to our patients, especially when any other cosmetic work, such as bonding, whitening, or veneers, is involved.
If you prefer to visit an orthodontist, that’s always an option, and we have several Winter Park orthodontists to recommend!
